Tom Bailey: Hello and welcome to the Flow And Grow Expert Interviews. The place for experts and entrepreneurs who want high value ideas to boost business results.

Hello, I’m Tom Bailey. And in today's episode, I'll be getting to know Cloris Kylie. Who's the best-selling author of beyond influencer marketing and the host of the top rated beyond influencer marketing podcast. So, Cloris, hello, and a very warm welcome to today's episode.

Cloris Kylie: I'm so happy to be here, Tom. Thankyou.

Tom Bailey:  Thank you so much. I really appreciate you. And whereabouts are you in the world right now?

Cloris Kylie: United States, a couple of hours from Boston. It's nice and, and beautiful. It's beautiful here. All the flowers are in full bloom.

Tom Bailey: Incredible. It looks amazing. Thank you so much. And before we jump into the interview, just to give a little bit more of an introduction. So, Cloris helps expertise-based entrepreneurs, build authority, grow their lists and get ideal clients by collaborating with influences. She's been featured on network TV, top ranked podcast, YouTube channels and blogs, and her motto is ‘reveal your magnificence’. The title of today's episode is How To Position Yourself As A Top Expert Through Featured Interviews. And Cloris is going to show us how to do that in just seven minutes. So, a question number one today is who are your ideal clients?

Cloris Kylie: My ideal clients, Tom really want to be visible. They're tired of being the best, kept secret. So, they want to really share their expertise with the world or coaches, consultants, course creators, and they really want to reach ideal audiences. And one of the best ways to do that is by connecting with influencers.

Tom Bailey: Of course. Perfect. And what do you think is typically the biggest challenge that these people face?

Cloris Kylie: The biggest challenges is just lack of visibility. They know they have great expertise, amazing backgrounds, and yet they don't have the client flow that they would want. Right. They want to reach more people and scale their businesses.

Tom Bailey: Yeah. Got it. And, and I guess this is the problem, isn't it being able to reach more people and scale their businesses. If they're not doing that, what impacts that typically have on them?

Cloris Kylie: Well, there's a lot of you know, doubting yourself and the imposter syndrome. I think it hits you stronger if you're not seeing the results that you know you deserve. Right? Yeah. So, that's the last thing you want to be one of the many entrepreneurs who decide to start their business and then they quit just because they don't see those results.

Tom Bailey: Yeah. Got it. And I guess if there's an entrepreneur listening to this podcast and they're starting to resonate with this message, they're connecting with it. What's one piece of advice that you'd give them to get them started in the right direction?

Cloris Kylie: Well, the first step is to realize that you already have value to offer to influencers because people think that they have to publish that best-selling book or be a TEDx speaker or whatever that is to be there. But no, you, you already have expertise. And that is a value to influencers who, in the end, they just want to serve their audiences the best way possible. So, just keep that in mind and approach influencers with a mindset of, I have value. I'm going to deliver value to the audience of this influencer, to the influencer himself or herself. And that is already a good start.

Tom Bailey: Fantastic. And especially if you, if you've got your niche quite clearly defined, and that's going to be a great opportunity for you to share your expertise in that area. Okay. So next question is, do you have any kind of free resources or guides or content that you can offer to people to really help them in this space?

Cloris Kylie: Yeah, definitely. I have this guide that I love to share just because it gives you ideas to first be noticed by those top influencers in your industry. So I, 15 ideas is my influencer guide: cloriskylie.com/flowgrow for the name of the podcast. But you know, when, when you gain the attention of influencers, it's basically like you're starting a path to nurture that connection, right? So,you gain their attention and then you have to nurture that relationship always with the end result in mind. So again, it's a win-win situation, but what is it that you want to achieve with the influencer? Ask collaborating partners, right? You, you have to see yourself as a partner, so maybe you want to be featured on their podcast or on their virtual summit, or maybe you want to do a joint venture promotion together at some point, right? So, you have to think about what is your end objective per influencer, and then start the relationship, nurture the relationship. And of course you want to get on a call with them eventually to, to explore opportunities to collaborate. Yeah.

Tom Bailey: Cause, cause ultimately they're not going to put you at the, on their stage at their summit on the first time of meeting. So that nurturing is really important.

Cloris Kylie: Correct. Yeah. It starts from that first moment when they notice you and, and they kind of curious, right. They want to learn more about you.

Tom Bailey: Yeah. Oh, fantastic. Thank you so much. Next question. Then slightly off topic you could say, and then it's more about yourself. So, what's one mistake, or let's say failure that you've made in business or in life. And what did you learn from it?

Cloris Kylie: I learned that I cannot do it on my own. Right. Like when I started my business, I'm a very independent person. So, I thought I could just figure things out. And I didn't need anybody's help. So first of all, I didn't seek the assistance of a coach or a consultant, somebody to guide me. And then I try to basically create content and products and programs thinking that people would just find it. Instead of collaborating with others who already had an ideal audience for me. So, I just remember we're all in the business of building relationships. So, keep that in mind every second of your business as you grow through your business.

Tom Bailey: Absolutely. Fantastic advice. Thank you so much. And the last question from me today then is what is one question that I should have asked you that will also give some great value to our audience today?

Cloris Kylie: I think everybody would be interested in you knowing what is the best way to have that hook that will catch the attention of a podcast host or another influencer you want to collaborate with. And the answer is that is just something that includes to your value proposition. So first you have to have a really strong value proposition that catches the attention of the influencer that comes from a really specific audience.  A really specific result that you deliver for your audience and then come up with something specific that you and that influencer have in common. So, for example they interviewed somebody on their show. Who you admire and you read their books. So, you mentioned that, or maybe they created their show or business for their child and you resonate with that. That's what I did for one of my connections. So, always figure out what it is that you have in common with the influencer, a common value, a common connection, a topic that you both are passionate about and start with that. So, you gain the attention and once you have that, and you can show how you can deliver value to their audience.

Tom Bailey: Fantastic. Thank you so much again for your time today Cloris. I really appreciate it and adding such great value to our audience.

Cloris Kylie: Thankyou Tom
