The Authority Ladder Academy

Tom Bailey · Succeed Through Speaking

Nine places. Founding member cohort. Applications close [Sunday 25th], or when they're filled.

For skilled coaches who are quietly the best-kept secret in their field.

For years now you've been good at what you do. Your clients get real results. The work you do in a one-to-one session is the kind people quietly carry with them for years.

And most weeks, almost nobody outside your referral network knows you exist.

You already know what you should be doing about that. You've known for a while. You've bought the programmes, taken the notes, built the folders. There's a video you recorded a few weeks ago still sitting unposted. A pitch to a podcast you respect, still in drafts.

The problem was never information. It was that every programme handed you a toolkit and left you to decide where to start. So you kept starting in the wrong place, stopping, and quietly concluding you were the one who wasn't built for this.

The Authority Ladder Academy was built around that exact problem. Not the visibility problem on the surface. The one underneath it.

I'm taking a small group of coaches through it, starting [date]. Here's what it is, who it's for, and how to apply.

How the 90 days work

The Ladder is a fixed sequence. Each task is built on the one before it. The next step is always decided, which means there's no ‘which thing do I do first’ — and no room for perfectionism to find a reason to wait.

Twenty-one tasks. Three levels. One per month.

Month one — Presence. You build a clear one-line positioning statement, name your three speaking themes, and start showing up on camera with a signature approach. By the end of the month you've posted work you'd previously have prepared and sat on.

Month two — Credibility. You publish long-form pieces that teach using your framework, hold a weekly short-form cadence, launch a simple lead magnet, and run your first solo live session. The goal isn't reach. It's one real inbound conversation.

Month three — Recognition. You write your speaker bio and one-sheet, build a simple speaker page, pitch and appear on your first three podcasts, and speak on a summit or panel as a guest expert. The milestone that matters: your first inbound enquiry that didn't come from a referral.

By day 90 you have a body of visible work that reflects who you actually are. And something quieter has happened underneath it. The argument you have with yourself before you open the laptop — about whether today's the day, whether it's good enough yet, whether you're ready — has lost its authority. Not because someone told you you were ready. Because you found out for yourself, through 21 completed tasks you can't argue away.

That's the Academy. Levels one to three. For those who finish it and want to keep climbing, there's a continuation — the Inner Circle, levels four and five. You don't buy your way in. You earn it by doing the work. I'll talk to you about it around day 75, not before.

Who I am

I spent the first thirty years of my life avoiding speaking entirely.

I was made redundant. I lost both grandparents within weeks of each other and said no to speaking at their funeral, because fear made the decision before I could. That was the turning point.

I made every mistake first. Bought every book on public speaking. Sat at conferences comparing myself to world-class speakers. Hired a vocal coach to change my accent. None of it worked.

What worked was joining a speaking club and doing the reps. Confidence comes from competence. The version of me that could do this was never going to arrive through waiting — he was on the other side of the reps I kept refusing to take.

Today I've recorded over 200 podcast episodes, spoken at the London Excel Arena and on global virtual summits, and built a business entirely on my voice.

I'm not telling you that to impress you. I'm telling you because the thing I teach is the thing I had to learn the hard way, and because the quiet, prepared, slightly-too-careful version of you is exactly the version I was.

Who this is for

This isn't for you if…

  • You're looking for one more programme to hand you information you already have. The Academy is built for action, not notes.
  • You haven't made your work pay yet. This is for coaches who are already skilled and already getting results.
  • You want to go viral, chase reach, and post every day. That's the opposite of how this works.
  • You want a quick fix without doing the reps. There isn't one, and I'd rather tell you that now.

But if you…

  • Are skilled, with clients who get real results, and you know it.
  • Are tired of watching people with half your depth land the podcast, the keynote, the recognition.
  • Are done relying on referrals and luck for your next client.
  • Can take direction and follow a sequence, even when the step in front of you feels uncomfortable.
  • Are ready to press record before it's perfect — because that's where the change actually lives.

…then this is the year it gets to be different.

How we'll work together

This isn't a course you log into and drift through until the motivation fades. It's small, structured, and close.

  • A weekly 60-minute group coaching call. Thirteen across the 90 days. Not content delivery — the thing that keeps the next task from quietly becoming optional.
  • A monthly one-to-one Authority Review with me. Three sessions. Following a structure faithfully while privately doubting it applies to you is entirely possible. These are where that gap gets closed.
  • A personalised Authority Audit on day one. I run it live with you. Before you watch a single lesson, you'll see exactly where you sit on the Ladder right now — not a generic starting line, yours.
  • A cohort of nine. Capped deliberately. Small enough, and similar enough, that when someone next to you posts a shaky first video and something good comes back, you can't dismiss it the way you'd dismiss a polished testimonial.
  • A done-with-you AI prompt library. Thirty prompts across content, repurposing, bios, pitches and framework-building.

And four things built into the founding offer: a personal content review from me in month one, a podcast and summit pitch pack, vouchers for my monthly workshops, and the prompt library above.

The investment

The honest comparison isn't this programme against the last one you bought. It's this programme against another year invisible.

You already know what referral dependency costs you. You know two clients changing their minds separates a steady year from a frightening one. You know there are people who went looking this year and found someone else, because there was nothing visible of yours to find. That cost never shows up on a bank statement. You know exactly what it adds up to, and it's more than this every time.

£1,997 founding, or £750 × 3 monthly. A £197 deposit holds your place and comes off the fee.

The standard price will be £2,997 once the case studies exist. Total stated value of what's included: £4,023.

There's no real risk in applying

The deposit is fully refundable. If it isn't the right fit, or you simply change your mind, I refund it in full, straight away. Nobody joins who shouldn't be here — that's the point of a small group.

And here's the thing I most want you to hear. If you've tried something like this before and stopped, that wasn't you failing. That was a structure problem. Every programme that didn't work handed you better tools and left you to figure out where to start. This one removes that decision entirely. It was built for the person who prepares the video and doesn't post it — not in spite of her, around her.

QuickFacts

The Authority Ladder has three tiers:

  • The Academy — 90 days, levels one to three (Presence, Credibility, Recognition). Where you start.
  • The Inner Circle (founding) — 12 months, all five levels, monthly one-to-one throughout.
  • The Inner Circle (ongoing) — invitation only, earned at the top of level three.

This cohort is for you if you're an online coach or expert who:

  1. Is already skilled, with clients who get real results.
  2. Has been in business long enough that referral-only has started to feel like a ceiling.
  3. Is ready to be visible, and ready to do the reps that takes.
  4. Can follow a sequence and take direction.
  5. Wants to stop being the best-kept secret and start being the obvious choice.

Nine places. Founding price. Enrolment for this cohort closes [Sunday 25th].

How to apply

Step 1: Click here to apply for one of the nine places. A few short questions about where you are now and where you want to get to. About ten minutes.

Step 2: A £197 deposit holds your place while I read your application. I read every one personally. It comes off your fee if you join, and if it's not the right fit — or you change your mind — I refund it in full, straight away.

Step 3: If it's a fit, I send you everything you need to join, with your start date and how the next 90 days work. If you'd like to talk anything through before you decide, you can. You don't have to.

— Tom

The application is worth doing even if you don't join.

The questions ask you to get clear on who you help, what you're great at, where your clients come from, and what's been holding you back. Most people have never written those things down in one place. You'll come out the other side clearer than you went in, whatever you decide.
